A good-quality tourist trail leads from Nemesgulács to the 393-meter-high Gulács-hegy ('Gulács Hill'). Next to the hill of Hegyesd, this is another of the most regular "sugar-loaf" volcanoes. Gulács, as a"witness hill", was formed by intense volcanic activities 4-5 million years ago. The hill's lower portion incorporates a geologically double tectonic structure, i.e. basalt and clay layers and a steep, 30-meter-high, dark-grey basalt cone is located on top of it. In the old mine yards, one with a little luck may observe zeolith crystals, as well. The peak, covered partly by bushes and trees, offers a spectacular sight onto the Tapolca-basin and the Keszthelyi Mountains
