• Szent György Hill


  • The 415-meter-high Szent György Hill is rich in natural and man-made beauty. The so-called basalt colums shaped by immense volvanic activities occurrinig 4-5 million years ago and the unique panorama offer a special experience for all who visit. Massive walls of a monastery stood on the highlands of Szent György Hill long ago. Nowadays, Baroque and Classicist chapels and wine-press houses are the most valuable architectural attractions. Refreshing aqnd sparkling springs are situated in several spots of the hill.

    Length: 3 km's. Can be reached by car then on foot.
    Direction: Tapolca, Arany J. street >>level crossing >> 800 m's turnout to the right in front of the bus-stop >> blue line >> blue-red line towards the Basalt-columns
