Lying in the west part of Balaton Highlands, the Tapolca-basin is surrounded dy the picturesque Keszthely Mountains, Southern Bakony and the so-called volcanic „witness” mountains, located on the edge of the basin. The Basalt colums of Szent György Hill and the High Cliffs of Badacsony are unique phenomenon in Hungary.
